BACI
Welcome center for international researchers
Objective: assisting international researchers (lecturer-researchers, researchers, doctoral students and post-doctoral students) with French entry and residence formalities, administrative procedures and everyday living requirements.
Welcoming international researchers is one of the pillars of the internationalization strategy of the University of Bordeaux and its partners. Welcoming international researchers in the main areas of research helps to build and reinforce the international attractiveness of the University of Bordeaux and its partners.
Tasked with informing foreign researchers and assisting them with their French entry and residence formalities, BACI plays a major role in the quality of the reception given to researchers coming into the country.
On a practical level, BACI provides assistance with administrative procedures and everyday living requirements:
- Conditions for entry into France
- Obtaining a residence permit
- Housing
- Social security and health insurance
- Tax declaration

I was contacted by the BACI who offered me help to settle in. I was really surprised that there was a university service dedicated to the reception of foreign researchers and doctoral students. Such a service is a real advantage when we don’t know the administrative system.
