Objective: increasing the expertise of the new generation of researchers through the international opening-up of doctoral studies.
Being one of the most emblematic university degrees, the Doctorate closely combines academic education and high-level research. The International Doctorate program of the University of Bordeaux' Initiative of Excellence has supported already more than 135 internationalization projects (joint international supervision, double diploma programs, outgoing mobility) of promising doctoral students doing their theses in an international context. Doctoral students on the "International Doctorate" program thus play an active role in the consolidation of strategic partnerships for the University of Bordeaux (institutional agreements, partner international laboratories, thematic networks, collaborations with renowned universities, etc.).
On its new programming period 2017-2020, University of Bordeaux' Initiative of Excellence wish to pursue its action towards the internationalization of doctoral studies, both in terms of integrating international aspects in the doctoral training or of implementing attractive schemes for international talented young researchers and strengthening a targeted international strategy.
The 2017 International Doctorates Program is part of a general policy of transition towards the 2017-2020 programming period and will support 3 actions:
- 1. Outgoing mobility for Bordeaux doctoral students
The call is open until 15/02/2017. Call documents and submission e-form are available at the end of the page, see button "application call, mobility, internationalization of doctoral studies".
- 2. Jointly supervised or double-degree doctoral projects with targeted partners
The call is open until 15/03/2017. This call is open to thesis supervisors (being authorized by the submission deadline) from the 9 doctoral schools of Bordeaux to support international thesis (cotutelle or cosupervision) with one of the targeted partners in order to encourage the cooperation developed over the past years in various domains, starting from the 2017-18 academic session. Interested thesis supervisors may ask for call documentation (modalities, calendar, application form) to the relevant doctoral school (contact : UBX or UBM).
- 3. Thesis pilot scheme « Attractivity » for international talented candidates wishing to do their doctorate in Bordeaux.

Call for proposals - 2017 Mobility, internationalisation of doctoral studies - application form
The program "Mobility International of doctoral studies" aims at promoting international projects of talented PhD students, in line with their personal career plan.
This call is open to all scientific fields developed within the 9 doctoral schools of Bordeaux universities, to any PhD student who plans an international mobility between 1st of July 2017 and 31th of August 2018.
Eligibility and selection criteria are defined in the call.
Provisional calendar :

- Evaluation: Mars-April 2017
- Mobilities: Between 01/07/2017 and 31/08/2018
