Entrepreneurship

Becoming an entrepreneur while at university.

Objective : stimulating the students’ entrepreneurial spirit and project undertakings. 

In addition to periodically providing information, efforts made in the field of entrepreneurship for students focus on three lines of action:

  • awareness-building
  • training
  • support

Awareness-building

With the support of the ECA scheme, awareness-building seminars explain entrepreneurship and provide a method that students then apply during simulation exercises for pitching a business model to a jury. Since 2008, approximately 15,000 Aquitaine students have attended this seminar, which has received outstanding evaluations.

Training

The university offers three types of entrepreneurial training programs which reflect extensive educational experience in this field:

  • Vocational Degree in Entrepreneurshi :
    offered by the IUT Marketing Techniques Department, this degree training program is for young project initiators seeking to create businesses or take over family businesses.
  • Master's in Entrepreneurship and Project Management :
    following the CREE Master's course, new course offerings for the fall semester include two options for second-year master's courses, starting in September 2016:  "Business Creation" and "Advice and Support for Business Creation or Takeover". The first year of a master's course dedicated to entrepreneurship will open in Fall 2017.
  • "Tools for Entrepreneurship" University Diploma :
    conducted in co-operation with Entrepreneuriat Campus Aquitaine, the D2E "Tools for Entrepreneurship" program trains students who have chosen the national Student-Entrepreneur status (DRE). Courses are scheduled on Friday evening and Saturday morning. Applications from university alumni may also be considered for possible admission to the program, for up to three years after they graduate.  

A distinctive feature of these entrepreneurial training programs is that they are open to students from all disciplinary backgrounds.   

Support

An incubator has been created in order to ensure better support for students launching entrepreneurial projects. It provides a co-working space located in the heart of the university's Management Sciences Department in Bordeaux. An instructor with all the necessary skills as well as personal entrepreneurial experience advises and supports students develop their projects.   

The GRP Lab Method

The common thread throughout these three lines of action is the method used. This method is based on the expertise of the GRP Lab (IdEx Bordeaux Social Innovation Connectors) team, who have developed a method focused on the Business Model concept.
The platform offers an entire set of digital resources, particularly examples, software that helps students design Business Models, and a 12-episode web series of 5-minute videos.

Remise du prix UBooster au projet GRYPRemise du prix UBooster au projet GRYP

Le projet GRYP "Get and Reused Youngtimers Parts", porté par deux étudiants de l'IAE de Bordeaux, a reçu son prix des mains de Manuel Tunon de Lara, mercredi 14 juin 2017, jour de l'inauguration de l'incubateur UBee Lab qui a organisé et lancé UBooster. GRYP est spécialisé dans la production additive, via l'impression 3D, et le courtage de pièces détachées pour voitures de collection. Cette initiative offre aux collectionneurs et restaurateurs un service personnalisé et sur commande de pièces neuves et d’occasion.

La méthode GRP LabLa méthode GRP Lab

Le fil conducteur de ces trois niveaux d’intervention réside dans la méthode utilisée. Celle-ci s’appuie sur les compétences de l’équipe de GRP Lab (Centre d’innovation sociétale de l’IdEx Bordeaux) ayant mis au point une méthode autour du concept de Business Model. La plateforme fournit tout un ensemble de ressources numériques, notamment des exemples, un logiciel d’aide à la conception d’un Business Model et une web-série de 12 épisodes de 5 minutes.
